2026 Water Sale at the Oregon State Fair

For the past 40 years, the Salem-Kawagoe Sister Cities has sold bottles of water at the Oregon State Fair. This is our primary fundraising activity and funds raised go to support:

  • The Mini Grant program for education grants focused on projects that bridge Salem, OR and Kawagoe, Japan.

  • Student exchange efforts that bring students from Kawagoe to Salem or that help send Salem area students to Japan.

  • Other sponsorships to Salem area programs that embody our organization’s values, like the World Beat Festival.

Get Involved

Every year, members of the Salem-Kawagoe Sister Cities organization gather and volunteer to sell water at the Oregon State Fair. The process is rather straightforward: we sell bottles of water that are cold, fast, and (relative to fair standards) cheap. 100% of the revenue we generate after paying the Oregon State Fair and other suppliers goes into funding our organization’s initiatives.

Volunteers keep the water bottles stocked, operate our cash register, and sell water to fair attendees. Each day is supervised by a member of the Board of Directors, and volunteers work in 4 hour shifts (or more if desired).

Signups are now available for the 2026 Water Sale.
